About Range and Efficiency
Your instrument panel shows "Rated Range", which is based on standardized EPA testing. However, real-world conditions differ. Elvee helps bridge this gap.
Rated vs. Real-world Range
- Rated Range: The EPA estimate. It assumes constant speeds on flat terrain.
- Real-world Range: Calculates how far you can actually drive based on your current efficiency trends (Wh/mi).
Key Efficiency Factors
- Speed: Driving over 70 mph increases wind resistance exponentially.
- Temperature: Cold weather increases cabin heating needs and reduces battery chemistry efficiency.
- Elevation: Climbing steep hills increases energy consumption, though regenerative braking recovers some during the descent.
- Wind: Direct headwinds can significantly lower efficiency.
